One family chose to ask their family members bring the amount of money they would spend on a casserole and bring that instead of the food item to a family gathering to help support the Tatum mission. The hosts prepared the meal and had a lot less leftovers and wasted food while supporting a wonderful ministry. Many families have delivered their own food boxes.
Christmas gifts were purchased for a 5 year-old boy whose single mother is without a job.
Had oil changed for a middle aged man who could not afford it.
A small group supported a single mother who couldn’t provide Christmas for her children.
One email was sent to several people and Asbury staff seeking help for ideas on sponsorship of eight familes that are affiliated with the Harvest Youth Club. Within hours all families were sponsored. Food boxes, gift baskets, toys and clothing items for the kids, textbooks, and much more will be taken to the families in need. Such an outpouring of love with just one email.

Money was donated to buy 10 water filters in Honduras in honor of friends instead of buying them gifts.
A huge volunteer turnout at Harvest Youth Club last week.
Dozens of letters written to 305 8th St home and UMRA.
An overflowing barrel of toys for the Downtown Rescue Mission.
Lots of toys brought last Sunday for Upper Sand Mountain Toy Drive. 7th graders delivered them to Upper Sand Mountain.
Overwhelming support for warm wear attire for backpacks for the homeless. Storehouse is delivering New Years Eve. Contact Ted 684-4942

11th graders bought supplies for a missionary team going to Guatemala for a children’s program.
11th grade boys group cleaned gutters for a lady in our church and 7th grade boys group raked leaves for family.
7th graders went caroling at Morningside Assisted Living.
9th graders went to 305 8th Street and made cookies/ornaments with the mentally challenged residents.
8th grade group bought angel tree gifts.
10th grade sponsored WAY-FM Christmas Prayer family. Three families have brought in food this week to help others. These special families were helped by Asbury in their times of need and wanted to give back.
5th and 6th graders sang carols and delivered homemade gifts to the residents of Valley View Nursing Home.
All 17 Mandi Mercy home children and the Rotash Kumar family received sponsors! |
