I LOVE TO VISIT PEOPLE305 8th Street HomeThe caring hearts of others have made a positive impact on the individuals who call 305 8th Street home. Holidays are both exciting and difficult. Operating any household becomes overwhelming and the stress of relationships can sour any celebration when expectations are high. Caring volunteers fill the emptiness spot that some of our disabled residents feel who don’t have family. Friends improving the quality of the home and providing activities has improved the quality of life for all. Members of Asbury have become nothing less than family to many of our residents. A visit and a smile is more than money can buy! And the homemade cards…what an awesome way to say “I care.” Our residents feel loved. If it is 1 person or 10, there is a decoration to be made, a room to be decorated, and a person to cheer up. Drop in anytime during the holidays to lend a hand. We appreciate your time and effort. A list of the residents’ names can be obtained from the Mission office. Retirement Home VisitsVisit residents at Morningside Assisted Living and Madison Manor Nursing homes. We have good relationships and partnerships with both these places, and they are open to families coming in. They would love to have decorations, too. Promise HomesPromise Homes (nine homes in the area for adults with intellectual disabilities) would love to have Christmas cards sent to their residents. Opportunities also exist for a class or family to "adopt" a resident for Christmas (provide gifts for a particular resident).
